MICHAEL AND CHRIST THE SAME

An angel (from the Greek ἄγγελος – ángelos  (ángelos[5]), "messenger;” Hebrew term mal’akh denoting simply “messenger.” the terms מלאך אלהים (mal'āk̠ 'ĕlōhîm; messenger of God), מלאך יהוה (mal'āk̠ YHWH; messenger of the Lord), בני אלהים (bənē Elohim 'ĕlōhîm; sons of God). The Bible uses the terms מלאך אלהים (mal'āk̠ 'ĕlōhîm; messenger of God), מלאך יהוה (mal'āk̠ YHWH; messenger of the Lord), בני אלהים (bənē 'ĕlōhîm; sons of God) and הקודשים (haqqôd̠əšîm; the holy ones) to refer to beings traditionally interpreted as angels. Later texts use other terms, such as העליונים (hā'elyônîm; the upper ones).

The term מלאך (mal'āk̠) is also used in the Tanakh; a similar term, ملائكة (malā'ikah), is used in the Qur'an. The Greek and Hebrew words, depending on the context may refer either to a human messenger or a supernatural messenger. The human messenger could possibly be a prophet or priest, such as Malachi, "my messenger", and the Greek superscription that the Book of Malachi was written "by the hand of his messenger" ἀγγέλου angélou. Examples of a supernatural messenger[11] are the "Malak YHWH," who is either a messenger from God,[12]an aspect of God (such as the Logos),[13] or God himself as the messenger (the "theophanic angel.") The term theophany has acquired a specific usage for Christians and Jews with respect to the Bible: It refers to the manifestation of God to man; the sensible sign by which the presence of God is revealed. Only a small number of theophanies are found in the Hebrew Bible, also known as the Old Testament. Melchisedec identified in Hebrews chapter 7 is understood to be an example of this type of presence of God being revealed as a man or Messenger representing God's Imminence.

The term  Archangel  is a New Testament term represented in two verses and is not represented in the Old Testament at all. Out of the two, only one uses the term with the name- Michael: Jude 1:9,  Yet Michael the archangel, when contending with the devil…” Thus the doctrine, teaching that Michael is an angel, is derived by not correctly translating the term as ‘messenger’ according to the Greek rendering. The verse should correctly read: “Yet MICHAEL the ARCH MESSENGER…” or HIGH MESSENGER. Greek ἀρχά, (arch). Chief or “Principal”; first in order and rank. Hebrew גָּדַל –great or ‘high’ as in Dan 12:1 “Michael the (great) prince…” corresponds to (arch) in the Greek as in (arch) angel. Greek-κεφαλή; head, meaning anything supreme, chief, prominent as in: “The stone which the builders rejected, the same is become the head of the corner? Luke 20:17; corresponds to the same word; head- רֹאשׁ; in Hebrew, as in:  The stone which the builders refused is become the head stone of the corner.” Psalm 118:22.

Jesus Christ shall appear his church’s patron and protector: At that time, when the persecution is at the hottest, Michael shall stand up, v. 1. The angel had told Daniel what a firm friend Michael was to the church, Ch. 10:21 . He all along showed this friendship in the upper world; the angels knew it; but now Michael shall stand up in his providence, and work deliverance for the Jews, when he sees that their power is gone, Due. 32:3 . Christ is that great prince, for he is the prince of the kings of the earth, Rev. 1:5 . And, if he stand up for his church, who can be against it? But this is not all: At that time (that is, soon after) Michael shall stand up for the working out of our eternal salvation; the Son of God shall be incarnate, shall be manifested to destroy the works of the devil. Christ stood for the children of our people when he was made sin and a curse for them, stood in their stead as a sacrifice, bore the cure for them, to bear it from them. He stands for them in the intercession he ever lives to make within the veil, stands up for them, and stands their friend. And after the destruction of antichrist, of whom Antiochus was a type, Christ shall stand at the latter day upon the earth, shall appear for the complete redemption of all his. II. When Christ appears he will recompense tribulation to those that trouble his people. There shall be a time of trouble, threatening to all, but ruining to all the implacable enemies of God’s kingdom among men, such trouble as never was since there was a nation (Matthew Henry Commentary on Daniel 12:1).

Here is Michael our prince, the great protector of the church, and the patron of its just but injured cause: The first of the chief princes, v. 13. Some understand it of a created angel, but an archangel of the highest order, 1 Th. 4:16 ; Jude. 9.  Others think that Michael the archangel is no other than Christ himself, the angel of the covenant, and the Lord of the angels, he whom Daniel saw in vision, v. 5. He came to help me (v. 13); and there is none but he that holds with me in these things, v. 21. Christ is the church’s prince; angels are not, Heb. 2:5 . He presides in the affairs of the church and effectually provides for its good. He is said to hold with the angels, for it is he that makes them serviceable to the heirs of salvation; and, if he were not on the church’s side, its case were bad. But, says David, and so says the church, The Lord takes my part with those that help me, Ps. 118:7 . The Lord is with those that uphold my soul, Ps. 54:4 (Matthew Henry Commentary on Daniel 10:21).

Daniel 12:1

1599 Geneva Bible (GNV)

12 1 Of the deliverance of the Church by Christ.

And at that [a]time shall Michael stand up, the great prince, which standeth for the children of thy people, and there shall be a time of trouble, such as never was since there began to be a nation unto that same time: and at that time thy people shall be delivered, everyone that shall be found written in the book.

Footnotes:

a.     Daniel 12:1 The Angel here noteth two things: first that the Church shall be in great affliction and trouble at Christ’s coming, and next that God will send his Angel to deliver it, whom here he calleth Michael, meaning Christ, which is published by the preaching of the Gospel.

The Geneva Bible is one of the most historically significant translations of the Bible into English, preceding the King James translation by 51 years.[1] It was the primary Bible of 16th century Protestantism and was the Bible used by William Shakespeare, Oliver Cromwell, John Knox, John Donne, and John Bunyan, author of Pilgrim's Progress.[2] It was one of the Bibles taken to America on the Mayflower, it was used by many English Dissenters, and it was still respected by Oliver Cromwell's soldiers at the time of the English Civil War in the booklet Cromwell's Soldiers' Pocket Bible.[3]

Most all of the early reformers and Protestants within the Christian Church realized that the (Michael) of Daniel in the Old Testament and Jesus of the New Testament were one and the same. Catholic dogma greatly influenced the diversion away from this idea with its doctrine on angels and (Angelic beings): ArchAngels, etc.

MICHAEL IS THE PRINCE OF GOD’S PEOPLE: Daniel 10:21

21 But I will shew thee that which is noted in the scripture of truth: and there is none that holdeth with me in these things, but Michael your prince.

MICHAEL IS THE GREAT PRINCE OF THE COVENANT OF PROMISE OF DANIEL 12; TO BE CONFIRMED IN THE CHRIST SEVEN YEAR MINISTRY OR 70th WEEK OF DANIEL 9:

DANIEL 12:1

And at that time shall Michael stand up, the great prince which standeth for the children of thy people: and there shall be a time of trouble, such as never was since there was a nation even to that same time: and at that time thy people shall be delivered, every one that shall be found written in the book.

DANIEL 9:25 and 27

25 Know therefore and understand, that from the going forth of the commandment to restore and to build Jerusalem unto the Messiah the Prince shall be seven weeks, and threescore and two weeks: the street shall be built again, and the wall, even in troublous times.

27 And he (MICHAEL) shall confirm the Covenant (not ‘a’ covenant as has been incorrectly alleged) with many for one week (7 years): and in the midst of the week (3 ˝ years) he shall cause the sacrifice and the oblation to cease (cut off at the CROSS), and for the overspreading of abominations he shall make it desolate, even until the consummation, and that determined shall be poured upon the desolate.

MICHAEL’S VOICE IS WHAT BRINGS THE RESURRECTION:

DANIEL 12:1-2

And at that time shall Michael stand up, the great prince which standeth for the children of thy people: and there shall be a time of trouble, such as never was since there was a nation even to that same time: and at that time thy people shall be delivered, every one that shall be found written in the book.

And many of them that sleep in the dust of the earth shall awake, some to everlasting life, and some to shame and everlasting contempt.

1 THESALONIANS 4:16

16 For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel (Chief Messenger) (STRONGS NT 32 GREEK: ἄγγελος ; ággelos – properly, a messenger or delegate), and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first:

JOHN 5:24-29

24 Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that heareth my word (voice), and believeth on him that sent me, hath everlasting life, and shall not come into condemnation; but is passed from death unto life.

25 Verily, verily, I say unto you, The hour is coming, and now is, when the dead shall hear the voice of the Son of God: and they that hear shall live.

26 For as the Father hath life in himself; so hath he given to the Son to have life in himself;

27 And hath given him authority to execute judgment also, because he is the Son of man.

28 Marvel not at this: for the hour is coming, in the which all that are in the graves shall hear his voice,

29 And shall come forth; they that have done good, unto the resurrection of life; and they that have done evil, unto the resurrection of damnation.

(NOTE THE PARALLEL OF VERSE 29 OF JOHN 5, ABOVE, AND THIS VERSE IN DANIEL 12:2. MICHAEL BRINGS THE RESURRECTION IN DANIEL 12 AS HE DOES ALSO IN JOHN 5 AS THE SON OF GOD.

MICHAEL LEADS THE CHARGE TO CAST DOWN SATAN

REVELATION 12:7-10

And there was war in heaven: Michael and his angels (messengers) fought against the dragon; and the dragon fought and his angels (messengers),

And prevailed not; neither was their place found any more in heaven.

And the great dragon was cast out, that old serpent, called the Devil, and Satan, which deceiveth the whole world: he was cast out into the earth, and his angels (messengers) were cast out with him.

10 And I heard a loud voice saying in heaven, Now is come salvation, and strength, and the kingdom of our God, and the power of his Christ: for the accuser of our brethren is cast down, which accused them before our God day and night.

2 THESSALONIANS 1:7

And to you who are troubled rest with us, when the Lord Jesus shall be revealed from heaven with his mighty angels,

MATTHEW 16:27

27 For the Son of man shall come in the glory of his Father with his angels; and then he shall reward every man according to his works.

MATTHEW 24:31

31 And he shall send his angels with a great sound of a trumpet, and they shall gather together his elect from the four winds, from one end of heaven to the other.

DANIEL 12:3

And they that be wise shall shine as the brightness of the firmament; and they that turn many to righteousness as the stars for ever and ever.

DANIEL 9:27 (b)

and for the overspreading of abominations he shall make it desolate, even until the consummation (end time), and that determined shall be poured upon the desolate (desolator) (SATAN).

2 THESSALONIANS 2:1-10

Now we beseech you, brethren, by (about) the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ, and by our gathering together unto him,

That ye be not soon shaken in mind, or be troubled, neither by spirit, nor by word, nor by letter as from us, as that the day of Christ is at hand.

And then shall that Wicked be revealed, whom the Lord shall consume with the spirit of his mouth, and shall destroy with the brightness of his coming:

For the mystery of iniquity doth already work: only he who now letteth (hinders) will let (hinder), until he be taken out of the way.

And then shall that Wicked be revealed, whom the Lord shall consume with the spirit of his mouth, and shall destroy with the brightness of his coming:

Even him, whose coming is after the working of Satan with all power and signs and lying wonders,

10 And with all deceivableness of unrighteousness in them that perish; because they received not the love of the truth, that they might be saved.

MICHAEL IS THE DELIVERER to TAKE AWAY SIN

DANIEL 12:1

And at that time shall Michael stand up, the great prince (of the Covenant) which standeth for the children of thy people: and there shall be a time of trouble, such as never was since there was a nation even to that same time: and at that time thy people shall be delivered, every one that shall be found written in the book.

ROMANS 11:

26 And so all Israel shall be saved: as it is written, There shall come out of Sion the Deliverer, and shall turn away ungodliness from Jacob:

27 For this is my covenant unto them, when I shall take away their sins.

DANIEL 9:

24 Seventy weeks are determined upon thy people and upon thy holy city, to finish the transgression, and to make an end of sins, and to make reconciliation for iniquity, and to bring in everlasting righteousness, and to seal up the vision and prophecy, and to anoint the most Holy.

PRINCE AND SAVIOUR FOR TO GIVE REPENTANCE AND FORGIVENESS OF SINS

ACTS 5:30-31

30 The God of our fathers raised up Jesus, whom ye slew and hanged on a tree.

31 Him hath God exalted with his right hand to be a Prince and a Saviour, for to give repentance to Israel, and forgiveness of sins.

*(a priest for ever after the order of Melchisedec).

MANY WILL SAY THAT MICHAEL IS AN ANGEL AND THEREFORE CAN NOT BE THE REDEEMER. BUT DID YOU KNOW THAT FULL REDEMPTION FROM ALL EVIL COMES BY THE ANGEL OF THE LORD!!!

Genesis 48:

14 And Israel stretched out his right hand, and laid it upon Ephraim's head, who was the younger, and his left hand upon Manasseh's head, guiding his hands wittingly; for Manasseh was the firstborn.

15 And he blessed Joseph, and said, GOD, before whom my fathers Abraham and Isaac did walk, the GOD which fed me all my life long unto this day, THE ANGEL which redeemed me from all evil,...

DANIEL 12:1

And at that time shall Michael stand up, the great prince (of the Covenant) which standeth for the children of thy people: and there shall be a time of trouble, such as never was since there was a nation even to that same time: and at that time thy people shall be delivered, every one that shall be found written in the book.

DANIEL 9: 24 Seventy weeks are determined upon thy people and upon thy holy city, to finish the transgression, and to make an end of sins, and to make reconciliation for iniquity, and to bring in everlasting righteousness, and to seal up the vision and prophecy, and to anoint the most Holy.

MICHAEL OPENS THE BOOK OF REDEMPTION

DANIEL 12:1 and 7

And at that time shall Michael stand up, the great prince (of the Covenant) which standeth for the children of thy people: and there shall be a time of trouble, such as never was since there was a nation even to that same time: and at that time thy people shall be delivered, every one that shall be found written in the book.

And he said, Go thy way, Daniel: for the words are closed up and sealed till the time of the end.

REVELATION 5:1-5

And I saw in the right hand of him that sat on the throne a book written within and on the backside, sealed with seven seals.

And I saw a strong angel proclaiming with a loud voice, Who is worthy to open the book, and to loose the seals thereof?

And no man in heaven, nor in earth, neither under the earth, was able to open the book, neither to look thereon.

And I wept much, because no man was found worthy to open and to read the book, neither to look thereon.

And one of the elders saith unto me, Weep not: behold, the Lion of the tribe of Judah, the Root of David, hath prevailed to open the book, and to loose the seven seals thereof.

REVELATION 10:1-6

And I saw another mighty angel (messenger) come down from heaven, clothed with a cloud: and a rainbow was upon his head, and his face was as it were the sun, and his feet as pillars of fire:

And he had in his hand a little book open: and he set his right foot upon the sea, and his left foot on the earth,

And cried with a loud voice, as when a lion roareth: and when he had cried, seven thunders uttered their voices.

And when the seven thunders had uttered their voices, I was about to write: and I heard a voice from heaven saying unto me, Seal up those things which the seven thunders uttered, and write them not.

And the angel which I saw stand upon the sea and upon the earth lifted up his hand to heaven,

And sware by him that liveth for ever and ever, who created heaven, and the things that therein are, and the earth, and the things that therein are, and the sea, and the things which are therein, that there should be time no longer (delayed): (COMPARE THIS PORTION OF VERSES 1-6 with DANIEL 12:5-7)

But in the days of the voice of the seventh angel, when he shall begin to sound, the mystery of God should be finished, as he hath declared to his servants the prophets.

And the voice which I heard from heaven spake unto me again, and said, Go and take the little book which is open in the hand of the angel (messenger) which standeth upon the sea and upon the earth.

And I went unto the angel, and said unto him, Give me the little book. And he said unto me, Take it, and eat it up; and it shall make thy belly bitter, but it shall be in thy mouth sweet as honey.

10 And I took the little book out of the angel's (messenger’s) hand, and ate it up; and it was in my mouth sweet as honey: and as soon as I had eaten it, my belly was bitter.

11 And he said unto me, Thou must prophesy again before many peoples, and nations, and tongues, and kings.

DANIEL 12:4-9

But thou, O Daniel, shut up the words, and seal the book, even to the time of the end: many shall run to and fro, and knowledge shall be increased.

Then I Daniel looked, and, behold, there stood other two, the one on this side of the bank of the river, and the other on that side of the bank of the river.

And one said to the man clothed in linen, which was upon the waters of the river, How long shall it be to the end of these wonders?

And I heard the man clothed in linen, which was upon the waters of the river, when he held up his right hand and his left hand unto heaven, and sware by him that liveth for ever that it shall be for a time, times, and an half; and when he shall have accomplished to scatter the power of the holy people, all these things shall be finished. (COMPARE THIS PORTION WITH REVELATION 5:1-6)

And I heard, but I understood not: then said I, O my Lord, what shall be the end of these things?

And he said, Go thy way, Daniel: for the words are closed up and sealed till the time of the end.

SO WHAT IS LEFT TO BE REVEALED IF THE BOOK OF REDEMPTION IS ALREADY OPENED IN REVELATION CHAPTER 5?

WHEN?

 DANIEL 12:6 and 9

And one said to the man clothed in linen, which was upon the waters of the river, How long shall it be to the end of these wonders?

And he said, Go thy way, Daniel: for the words are closed up and sealed till the time of the end.

REVELATION 10:6-7

And sware by him that liveth for ever and ever, who created heaven, and the things that therein are, and the earth, and the things that therein are, and the sea, and the things which are therein, that there should be time no longer (delayed):

But in the days of the voice of the seventh angel, when he shall begin to sound, the mystery of God should be finished, as he hath declared to his servants the prophets.

HOW?

DANIEL 12:8

And I heard, but I understood not: then said I, O my Lord, what shall be the end of these things?

REVELATION 10:

And the voice which I heard from heaven spake unto me again, and said, Go and take the little book which is open in the hand of the angel which standeth upon the sea and upon the earth.

And I went unto the angel, and said unto him, Give me the little book. And he said unto me, Take it, and eat it up; and it shall make thy belly bitter, but it shall be in thy mouth sweet as honey.

10 And I took the little book out of the angel's hand, and ate it up; and it was in my mouth sweet as honey: and as soon as I had eaten it, my belly was bitter.

John 6:53

53 Then Jesus said unto them, Verily, verily, I say unto you, Except ye eat the flesh of the Son of man, and drink his blood, ye have no life in you.

WHO?

REVELATION 10:3-4

And cried with a loud voice, as when a lion roareth: and when he had cried, seven thunders uttered their voices.

And when the seven thunders had uttered their voices, I was about to write: and I heard a voice from heaven saying unto me, Seal up those things which the seven thunders uttered, and write them not.

REVELATION 2:17

17 He that hath an ear, let him hear what the Spirit saith unto the churches; To him that overcometh will I give to eat of the hidden manna, and will give him a white stone, and in the stone a new name written, which no man knoweth saving he that receiveth it.

HEBREWS 7:15-17

15 And it is yet far more evident: for that after the similitude of *Melchisedec there ariseth another priest,

16 Who is made, not after the law of a carnal commandment, but after the power of an endless life.

17 For he testifieth, Thou art a priest for ever after the order of *Melchisedec.

REVELATION 10:4

4And when the seven thunders had uttered their voices, I was about to write: and I heard a voice from heaven saying unto me, Seal up those things which the seven thunders uttered, and write them not.

REVELATION 10:7

But in the days of the voice of the seventh angel, when he shall begin to sound, the mystery of God should be finished, as he hath declared to his servants the prophets.

To him that overcometh will I give to eat of the hidden manna, and will give him a white stone, and in the stone a new name written, which no man knoweth saving he that receiveth it.

MICHAEL        1-2-3-4-5-6-7

Hebrew name מִיכָאֵל (Mikha'el) meaning "who is like God”

*The heavenly deliverer is Melchizedek. Identical with the archangel Michael, he is the head of the ‘sons of Heaven’ or ‘gods of Justice’ and is referred to as elohim and el. The same terminology occurs in the Songs for the Holocaust of the Sabbath. These Hebrew words normally mean ‘God’, but in certain specific contexts Jewish tradition also explains elohim as primarily designating ‘judge’… (Vermes, p. 532)(The Complete Dead Sea Scrolls in English, translated by Geza Vermes [Penguin Books, Revised edition 2004].

Vermes was one of the first scholars to examine the Dead Sea Scrolls after their discovery in 1947, and is the author of the standard translation into English of the Dead Sea Scrolls: The Dead Sea Scrolls in English (1962)[ Dr. Vermes found in his discoveries, when translating the Dead Sea scrolls, that Melchizedek, Michael, and Jesus are all three synoptic as applied to the scriptures depicted therein. 11QMelch or the Melchizedek document, is a fragmentary manuscript among the Dead Sea Scrolls which mentions Melchizedek as leader of God's angels in a war in Heaven against the angels of darkness, agreed by most Bible scollers to be that of the more familiar archangel Michael.

In the so-called “War Scroll” (1QM 13:10; 16:6-8; 17:7), Melchizedek appears to be the archangel Michael, who is “the prince of light” (1QM 13:10-11; cf. 1QS 2:20-22; CD 5:17-19) and “the angel of [God's] truth” (1QS 3:24). Scrolls scholar Carol Newsom says, “it would seem most plausible that Melchizedek is to be identified with the seventh and highest of the chief princes, as Michael is customarily identified with the highest of the archangels.”
